A Seat For You

Next Block

The aim of this project was to craft a "Seat for You" that integrates wood or metal while incorporating a soft element. The design was inspired by personal memories from the past.

Presenting a seat inspired by my New York upbringing, capturing the essence of city streets that shaped my childhood. More than just a place to sit, it's a tangible piece of urban nostalgia, inviting others to share in the vibrant energy of my cherished memories.

Plants Are New Pets & Pets Are The New Baby's

Approximately 70% of Generation Z members have been responsible for the demise of at least ten plants in their history.

Initially, I began by examining available seats and seeking to comprehend their creation through the manufacturing process.

Next, I delved into my inspiration, which revolves around the industrial aspect of cities and how the system operates.

Finally, I began exploring random inspirations from various buildings and toys.

2D Sketches

I began by creating some rough 2D sketches. My goal was to highlight the material by incorporating it prominently into the design.

03. Process

Welding

I wanted to challenge myself by learning how to weld. My goal was to create a chair that embodies the industrial essence of the city.

In the beginning, I initiated the process by cutting the stainless steel into the desired pieces.

After obtaining my pieces, I arranged them into groups based on what I intended to work on first.

Next, I began welding the pieces together.

Here is a visual of the welding work.

I ensured that the pieces were at a perfect 90-degree angle using a square.

Once I completed all the pieces, it was time to assemble them together.

I utilized clamps to secure the pieces to the table, employing squares to ensure they maintained a 90-degree angle.

Finally, I sanded the entire piece down and applied a finishing coat to the stainless steel.

Dimensions

To understand how everything would fit together, I created a 3D model of the chair's base.
